Course Description

Help your 8th grader stand out in Chicago’s competitive high school admissions process. This online prep course is designed to give students the academic foundation, strategic tools, and test-day confidence they need to excel on the CPS High School Admissions Test (HSAT). With expert instruction and targeted practice, students gain a competitive edge for high schools like Lane Tech, Northside College Prep, Whitney Young, Walter Payton, and IB and Scholar Programs and more. WHAT'S COVERED: • Reading comprehension and critical thinking • Math problem-solving and foundational skills • Test format, timing strategies, and multiple-choice logic • Confidence-building practice to reduce exam anxiety WHAT'S INCLUDED: • A full-length pre-test with performance analysis • 6 weeks of direct instruction via Zoom or Google Meet • A full-length post-test to measure growth • Weekly homework on Google Classroom • Access to resources on the Google Classroom  KEY DETAILS: • Dates: Tuesdays, August 19 – October 7, 2025 • Time: 5:00–6:00pm CST (1 hour per session) • Location: Online (via Zoom or Google Meet) • Cost: $600 (includes materials, assessments, Google Classroom Resources) • Pre-Test on Aug 19 • Post-Test on Sept 30 • Final Review on Oct 7 WHY IT MATTERS: Admission to CPS Selective Enrollment and IB & Scholar programs is based on a 900-point scale, with 450 points coming directly from the HSAT. This course ensures your child is well-prepared, confident, and ready to perform. Students who complete this course have gone on to attend: Walter Payton, Northside, Lane Tech, Whitney Young, Taft IB, and Amundsen IB, Von Steuben Scholars Program among others.
